The girls have been asking me for ages....

To make flapjacks, I have to be in the mood to bake and I got the bug tonight.

This flapjack recipe is the best one I have found.  My friend gave it to me and she found it in a Tweenies magazine when her middle daughter was 3, she is now nearly 13.

I thought I would share it with all of you, so you can give it a go.

I have tried different things with this recipe to make it my own, also to find what works for me,

I personally use caster sugar and not brown sugar, I find it sticks better together.

The Recipe:
Pinch of Salt
12oz/300g Oats
9oz Butter/Margarine
6oz Brown Sugar
2 Table Spoons of Golden Syrup

The Method:
Melt the butter, Sugar and Syrup in a pan.
Put the oats in and stir in till its all mixed together.

Then pour into a tray.

20-30 Minutes in the oven at 190oc

Mine only go in for 20 minutes and then harden up sat on the side.

Everything in the pan, all stirred together.

All in my medium bar pan ready to go into the oven.

I have found that after they come out the oven not to cut them straight away, let them cool slightly then cut them but leave them still in the tray for the bottom to stick together a bit more.

Did not realise how fuzzy this picture was until I went to put a frame round it.  flapjacks just out the oven

The flapjacks all cut ready to be taken out when completely cold.

I love this recipe, you can add things to it to make it more healthy like raisins or chocolate chips or even dried pieces of fruit. you can have them big pieces or little pieces like I have.  I have made these for snacks at school so small pieces are the idea size for when they are at school.

Hope you enjoy the recipe like I do.  I also made some chocolate chip muffins while these were cooking.
