HBPets and Spirit

6 weeks ago - which seems a life time ago now; Spirit and I got invited to a pet event.  I was so excited and nervous at the chance, as this was the first pet event we have been to. We weren't sure what to expect. One thing I did learn straight off the mark is before going to any pet blogging event I must let Spirit run off some steam first.

I got poo bags, cheese and other treats, I didn't know what was going to be there or what we would be doing; all I was told was that it was going to be a fun day.  I left in plenty of time - so I wouldn't be late as I really can't stand being late to anything, I drove to Manchester hoping I didn't get lost.  When we arrived I thought "is this the right place?" we were down a really narrow street, at the end of it there was a church but I couldn't get round the corner due to cars being parked either side of it.  There was a builder's yard and some other buildings but I double checked the address and I was in the right place.  I parked on the narrow street and walked around trying to find the door, finally I found the right door with a help of a bloke walking past who had seen some other dogs going into the building.

Inside there were already bloggers and their dogs, treats, toys, with some being filmed and having photos taken.  We soon got told that we were we making far too much noise and told to go into the side room as filming had already started.

We went into the side room and chatted and got to know the other bloggers, their dogs.  The two lovely ladies who had arranged the day told us what we would be doing during the day. There was a bowl of Holland and Barrett food on the floor which I had to move due to Spirit digging into it.

Soon it was time for us to go out and play with the dogs in front of the cameras and treats to be giving out, it was fun to see all the dogs playing and having a fantastic time.  It was soon time to split the dogs up so that the small dogs were on their own and Spirit with two other dogs who I think were collies.   I did get asked at one point by the camera man if Spirit ever kept still because they hadn't had a still shot of her yet.

Dogs playing and getting alot of treats

Then it was time for us all to have our separate interviews and while they were being done we were moved to the side rooms.  There were lots of little puddles showing up so after a short time I said I was going to find a patch of grass for Spirit and another blogger and her collie came with me and we got chatting.  It was lovely to get to know her a bit more, we had gone round the block and found a patch of grass for Spirit to go the toilet, as soon as she had finished we headed back in.

Hoping that they will get some of the sandwich

It was only a short time before it was our turn, by this point Spirit had worn herself out and had eaten a years worth of treats in the space of a couple of hours, so when they asked us to play she wasn't having any of it. Then it was time for our interview which gave me a sick feeling in my stomach to think this was going on social media its a bit different to just a picture, while the interview was being done Spirit was chilled and just waiting patiently for us.

After the interview was finished we were given a goodie bag, my word it was full!  We got a small bag of vegetarian dog food, a bag of treats and lots of other items. You can see the full pet range that Holland and Barrett sell here

I hope you like our interview

It's back by popular demand...

As a child do you remember reading The Cat in the Hat by Dr Seuss? I do and have read it to the girls and they have loved it. We have never owned a Dr Seuss book - we have always got them from the library.  So when the opportunity came up to review a Dr Seuss book I said yes knowing that the girls would love it.

If you are a fan of Dr Seuss you will be glad to know that he is back by popular demand; publishing a special gift edition of 'What Pet Should I Get?'  This is a brand new, never seen before rhyming picture book with the child deciding what pet should they pick.

This book was originally written and illustrated by Dr Seuss sometime in the 1950's and it was found by his wife Audrey and a friend in a box in 2013.  His wife wasn't surprised by this because he was always starting different projects, they think this is how he came up with 'One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish'. At the end of the story it goes on to tell a bit more of how they found this story and a little bit about Dr Seuss.  He was an animal lover and owned dogs all his life, but desipte his love of dogs, it was a Cat that had the biggest influence on his career.  He had been writing for twenty seven years, but 'The Cat in the Hat' in 1957 was an overnight success making him instantly famous.

Summer was super excited to read this book tonight #lategram #drseuss #books #bookworm #review #reading #learning

We have had this book since Monday and we have read it every night, Summer asks me to read it quicker which she finds hilarious.  The pet she has picked is a Dog and a Cat  but this may change tomorrow night.

They are planning on relaunching 8 classics from Dr Seuss so keep your eyes peeled.

This book comes out on the 28th January but you can preorder your own copy today from Amazon RRP £12.08

New Challenges for 2016

For a while now I have hated the way I look and I know I'm the only one who can change that, but I have never had the motivation to actually do anything at all, which then made me hate myself, which then led me to binge eating and I kept going round in this vicious circle this has been going on since 2013.

In October Daddy & I went for a run, and I absolutely hated it. I couldn't think of anything worse, so never went again, on the same day my friend added me to this Run Mummy Run page on Facebook, I read the posts and they were very motivational which got me thinking that if they can do it so can I.

I Decided that I am fed up of hating the way I look and I am the only one who can change it. So I decided that on the 4th January after the kids were back in school and all the chocolate and alcohol had been drank, that I would start the C25K on my own and train Spirit to run as well.  I also Joined another Facebook group, which started on the 1st January called Lucy Locket Loves Fitness. She gives you exercises to do every day, she  keeps you motivated as well as the rest of the group to get up and do those exercises she has set.

To give me the extra boost and to make sure I didn't back out of it, which I could of done quiet easily, I signed up for a virtual run in January and I have to run/walk 10K which I paid for, some of the money goes to charity and at the end of it you get a medal sent to you, there are loads of these all you have to do is google it, if you up to the challenge. I have also signed up for one in February.

The Monday arrived and I was determined but was so tired with very little sleep the night before and working for a couple of hours during the day with no running gear, to stop myself for talking myself out of it I nipped to Aldi straight from work and got what I needed. I got everything twice, one in each size hoping I would fit in the medium, and I did YAY! I got everything on, got Spirit ready and left home. This was at 4 o clock in the afternoon, and I needed to leave at quarter past five to pick up Daddy from work.
This was my first run, I am now on week two Day 1 on C25K. I'm not loving it, but not hating it either and I will carry it on, me and Daddy have been talking about doing an half a marathon together, so I can train for it later on this year or maybe next year, you just never know.

My second Challenge for this year was to get back into reading, I used to be like Kacy and was a bookworm, Kacy is more of a bookworm then I was. I have missed it, I have looked at a couple of books and never really got into them. So need to find what I am into and go from there. I am going to try and read a book a month so my first book that I'm reading is the book thief, Daddy bought me months ago.  Next month might try Harry Potter, I've never really gottten into them as a teenager, but I have watched all the films and I am hoping it might get Kacy into them, it's one set of books she can't get into.

What are your challenges for this year?

Book Review:- Snoopy and Charlie Brown The Peanuts Movie

When Summer saw the advert for the Snoopy and Charlie Brown movie she was over the moon and kept asking to go and see it. Nanna and Great Granny took Summer to see the movie and she loved it, the older two weren't interested. When we got the opportunity to review the book we said Yes, knowing full well that this would be Summer's favorite book and I wasn't wrong, she carried it around with her, she had to take it to school with her to show her teacher, her teacher is reading it to the class and all the children are loving it, she has even asked Kacy to read it to her.

Snoopy and Charlie Brown
I remember Snoopy and Charlie brown from when I was a little, so for it to be back out again in a book, movie and toys is fantastic. My three didn't realise Snoopy was a beagle till they read the story

The girls ready for Kacy to read it
Kacy reading the story to them

This book is bight and colorful, pictures on every page, big writing for children who are learning to read and gives you the movie in a 32 page storybook.

If you can't get to the Cinemas to watch the movie, get this colorful book to read to your child, they will love it how Snoopy helps Charlie to dance and Charlie helping his little sister out and he still gets the red hair little girl's attention.

You can buy this book from Amazon for £4.99, Summer is already eyeing up the Snoopy and Charlie Brown Sticker book.
